FAQ
With enzyme action! Our detergents contain proteases, a type of enzyme that specifically targets protein-based stains. Blood contains proteins like hemoglobin, which are broken down by the proteases in our detergent. This enzymatic breakdown helps to dissolve the blood, making it easier to wash away from fabrics.
Is is best to follow the advice given on the garment care label and place items in a delicates bag where possible for machine wash. Steer clear of using Daintie detergents on wool, silks or natural fibers. Our special enzyme formula is rather good at targeting proteins, perfect for tackling grease, oil and other personal bodily fluid stains. But remember, wool has proteins, too, so let's keep them apart.
It depends!
While using Daintie Delicates Period Panty Detergent, it is best to use cold or lukewarm water. The enzymes in our detergent achieve peak performance in water between 95° - 104°F / 35° - 40°C. However, it's important to note that blood stains can begin to set into fabric at temperatures above 107°F / 42°C.
While using Daintie Delicates Lingerie and Bodily Fluids Detergent, you may use either hot or cold water. Be mindful not to exceed 140°F / 60°C as it will denature the important enzymes that power the detergent.
1. Rinse straight away
As soon as you take them off, rinse your underwear in cool water—ideally below 30°C (or 86°F). This helps prevent the blood from setting into the fabric. No need for soaking—just rinse gently until the water runs clear. A lot of our customers find the easiest way is to bring them into the shower with them. 2. Pre-treat with detergent
Apply a small amount of our detergent directly to the gusset of your underwear or wherever the stain is as a pre-treatment. Gently massage the treatment in, this helps the enzymes to start breaking down the blood proteins. This little step makes a big difference for stain removal and freshness. 3. Machine wash on a cold cycle
Once rinsed and pre-treated, pop them in the washing machine on a cold cycle (not exceeding 40°C). Always avoid hot water - it can damage the absorbent technology and cause stains to set. If you’re not ready to wash right away, hang them to air out until laundry time. We recommend placing them in a delicates bag for extra care when in the washing machine. 4. Skip the softener & air dry
Avoid fabric softeners or bleach, as they break down the fibres and reduce absorbency and also pose a risk to your natural flora and fauna down there. Once washed, hang them out to dry naturally— no tumble dryer. They’ll be fresh, clean, and ready for next time. Want a handy guide to keep on hand or share with a friend?
